Dunav Ultra Cycle Route – the big winner in the Annual Tourism Awards

The “Dunav Ultra” Cycle Route became the big winner of the “Innovation” category in the Annual Tourism Awards 2017 – a competition under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism of Bulgaria and a forum presenting the most interesting tourist sites, destinations and campaigns that took place during the year in the country.

“Dunav Ultra” has gathered a total of 39% of the vote of Internet users – as much as the sum of next three competitors.

The prize was personally received by 49-year-old marketing entrepreneur Boris Begamov, the creator of the route and amateur cyclist, who in the period 2014-2016 traveled three times the distance of the “Dunav Ultra” – nearly 300 miles within less than 48 hrs with a bicycle.

Sofia  Mayor Yordanka Fandakova handed the award to the winner with the words: “It is my honor to award a prize in this category to a Sofia citizen who has created such an attractive bike route.”

“This route is for the people from the Danube and a total of 15 Bulgarian municipalities that will be able to capitalize on it – Bregovo, Vidin, Lom, Kozloduy, Oryahovo, Gulyantsi, Nikopol, Belene, Svishtov, Borovo, Rousse, Tutrakan, Dobrich to Shabla” – said Begamov when receiving the prize.

“Speaking of innovation – this year the Danube villages are the innovation! I thank them for the support – without their activity this high result would not be possible “– added Begamov.
