On August 3, the Bulgarian ultra marathoner Vladimir Stavrev will start an exceptional challenge – to run the full distance of the nearly 700-kilometer Dunav Ultra Route. Stavrev’s goal is to start the challenge from the village of Kudelin and to reach the end point of the route – the village of Durankulak within a week, thus successfully promoting over 110 settlements along the Danube and Dobrudja, through or along which the route passes, and the Dunav Ultra project itself.
Although Vladimir Stavrev is one of the most trained ultra marathoners in Bulgaria, his goal is very challenging, due to the fact that he has not covered such a long distance so far. Additional difficulties are the fact that the run will take place mainly on asphalt, and the weather conditions portend hellish heat during the day.
The team of Dunav Ultra will be on the road all the time with Vladi, and in different places it is expected that he will be cheered by local people and supported by amateur runners. The movement of Vladi will be monitored live with a GPS transmitter and multimedia.
We will announce more details next week.
