Persina By Bike is the first regional tourist destination created by the Dunav Ultra team. The project aims to boost the efforts of local regional authorities in developing sustainable tourism, including a focus on taking care of nature and the environment.
We invite you to take part in this new weekend event if you’re keen on new adventures and challenges.
About Persina by Bike Weekend
Special event: 55km bike tour with the opportunity to take part in two categories – RACE and HOBBY. Official camping zone available – secure areas for tens, a general admissions area with access to an outdoor pool, barbecue, summer bar and Dunav Ultra beer.

- Walks and fishing boat trips to the Danube’s ‘jungles’
- Organised trip to the island of Persina
- A visit to the ‘Bulgarian Maldives’ with the flotilla of the Amur-Nikopol Association
- Bird-watching of exotic and rare birds
- Music, concerts, food competitions, DJ and a holiday atmosphere on the Danube at Belene
About the track
A specially prepared 55 km track which goes through the Persina nature park, as well as Belene and Nikopol towns. 100% off-road & gravel.
START: 1.7.2023 at 7:00 a.m., Belene
Suitable for the following bikes: Cross Country, MTB, Gravel, Touring, E-bike, Fat bike.
RACE – participants
Participants join in the cause and challenge themselves to complete the route as fast as possible. Results will be released in pre-announced categories and only the fastest will be ranked. All who finish the race will receive a medal and a ‘Persina By Bike’ yellow badge.
HOBBY – participants
Participants will get together for the cause without being ranked for time. They will have access to the Dunav Ultra mobile app, which will register their progress at 5 control points marked by ‘Persina By Bike’ signs. All who complete the race successfully will receive a medal and a ‘Persina By Bike’ green badge.
About the RACE category
- Participants will be tested on their speed and ranked accordingly, and winners will be announced in the pre-defined categories at the end of the race.
- All participants must complete the race no more than 5 hours after the start.
- All who complete the race will receive a ‘Persina by Bike “Race”’ medal and a ‘Persina By Bike’ yellow badge.
- Winners will receive prizes.
- This category is suitable for participants who are looking for more of an adrenaline rush and have a stronger drive to compete (*age limit – 16).

About the HOBBY category
- Participants who start the race in this category will not compete for rankings and the quickest times. The aim is to complete the route and use the Dunav Ultra app to photograph the five control points marked with the following ‘Persina By Bike’ symbols: the pelican, black stork, white-tailed eagle, sturgeon and Nikol plateau.
- All participants must complete the race within 8 hours.
- Everyone who successfully completes the race in the ‘Hobby’ category will receive a ‘Persina By Bike’ medal and a ‘Persina By Bike’ green badge.
- This category is suitable for participants who want to take part, but take more time to enjoy the scenery, take photos and get to know the area, including with their families (*age limit – 14, accompanied by parents).
