The initiative
- DUNAV ULTRA – THE MARATHON is a personal challenge of the Bulgarian long distance runner Vladimir Stavrev.
- THE OBJECTIVE was to successfully run the distance of the longest tourist route in Bulgaria – the Dunav Ultra Cycle Route.
- THE CAUSE of the run was to promote the route and a total of over 100 settlements – Bulgarian villages and towns along the cycle route.
- The DISTANCE that Stavrev covered was 721 km, with a total duration of up to 7 consecutive days.
- The CAMPAIGN started on 03/08/2020 in the village of Kudelin, Bregovo municipality and has been tracked in real time using a GPS device worn by the athlete. The ending point was the village of Durankulak, Shabla municipality. Below you can find the map, which monitors Stavrev’s movement in real time, along with the exact route taken by the marathoner.
The goal of this run is not to set records, it is mainly related to the cause of helping to promote the Dunav Ultra Cycle Route, as well as the Bulgarian towns and villages along the way.
